The Children’s Court of Victoria is celebrating NAIDOC Week 2021. This week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This year’s theme – Heal Country! – calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage. It asks us to reflect on the action we are taking to ensure we recognise and elevate the voices and rights of Aboriginal Victorians.

At the Children’s Court, we understand the importance of upholding Aboriginal cultural rights across all aspects our work. We would like to acknowledge the 38 original clans of Victoria that have been here for thousands of years. We will continue to promote and empower Aboriginal people to lead and inform our work across the state.

Together let’s reflect on the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage, and recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of this culture, now and into the future.
